Oscar Recio Cantu

Oscar Recio Cantu was born on September 20, 1958 in Monterrey, Mexico. He performed his elementary studies at the Franco Mexicano Elementary School (1965-1970). Then he attended the Centro Universitario de Monterrey (CUM) (1970-1973) to study the secondary education. He continued with High School studies at the Universidad de Monterrey (1973-1975).  In 1975 he attended the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education and obtained a bachelor in Computer Engineering. In the same institution he studied the Masters of Management.

He started his teaching career in Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education from 1979 to 1981. In 1981 he was incorporated to the School of Physics and Mathematics in Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and from 1989 to 1995 was coordinator of the Bachelor in Computer Sciences, and in 1995 became dean of the School.

In the professional area, Oscar Recio worked for the company Dinámica, S.A. de C.V. (Alfa Group Company) from 1979 to 1989, in this year he founded the company Kernel, Servicios en Informática (Computer Services) and in 1990 he joined Genetec, S.A. de C.V.  (Apple Computer Distributor) where he worked until 1994. In that year he decided to dedicate full time to his academic works in School of Physics and Mathematics.

Oscar Recio Cantú has been president, secretary and vice-president of The Mexican Association of Informatic Professionals from 1994 up to date, and also, he has been president and vice-president of the Sociedad Mexicana de Computación (Mexican Computer Society).
